Lightstream makes light work of repair centre’s estimates

A local accident repair centre has sent its efficiency into overdrive by installing KCOM's ultrafast broadband service.

Body shop manager Alan Glave says joining KCOM's Lightstream fibre network has made a world of difference to Fraser Accident Repair Centre.

He said: “Our estimators have to send to the insurance companies electronically details of the damage and proposed method and cost of repairs for every vehicle, as well as pictures showing the damaged areas. For a large, complex repair there can be 40 images or more.

“The package of information and images is also transmitted three or four times between us, the central server of our estimating system and the insurance companies, until it is fully approved.

“Previously, each upload or download could take half an hour or more. Now, with Lightstream it is virtually instantaneous.

“Before, each of our estimators could deal with just a couple of damaged vehicles in a morning. Now the speed of the system means they can get through more jobs in less time, be more focused on their estimates and improve even further the service to our customers.”

Two of Fraser Accident Repair Centre’s directors also had Lightstream installed at their homes as part of the package. This means they now have ultrafast links into the management system of the business and can access in real time the CCTV system monitoring the premises.

Alan added: “Lightstream has streamlined our whole operation and given senior people in the business confidence they can access the information they need rapidly, whether they are at the premises or at home.”

The business, in Springfield Way, Anlaby, hooked up to Lightstream for free under the Government’s Superfast Britain scheme.
